As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? ~Psalm 42:1-2, ESV
I know something, and I think you do, too: You've faced loneliness in your life -- times when life has been a haze, times when you've cried your eyes out, times when you've felt truly lost.
I want to let you in on a secret: I've faced such times, too. Everyone has. But let me guess: Sharing that "secret" has done little -- if anything -- to make you feel better?
Thankfully, we're human. Peculiar, reckless, imperfect humans.
And there's a God -- the God. The God who created the stars, lands, plants, animals, and breathtaking bodies of water that stretch on for thousands of miles. The God who is the ultimate Creator, and thought, that, hey, the world needed you, too. Isn't that amazing?
He's also the God who knew we'd be imperfect, yet created us, anyway. And because of our tendencies towards sin, He willingly allowed His beloved Son to die so we might be saved. John 3:16 (ESV) confirms this, and states, So God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
